Campers say 'thank you'

For one week in August, more than 60 children from the city could just be kids and enjoy the great outdoors at one of NIC’s two camps. The campers from 14 churches in the Chicago Southern and Chicago Northwestern Districts took part in the Chicago Metro Camp at Camp Reynoldswood in Dixon, Ill. It was made mostly possible thanks to the generosity from all the churches and individuals who donated to the 2019 Bishop’s Appeal offering at the Annual Conference in June.

Bishop's Appeal offering benefits youth campers

Thanks to the generosity of NIC churches, more children will be able to experience camp and grow closer to Christ. This year’s special Bishop’s Appeal offering at Annual Conference totaled $53,437 to help support Outdoor and Retreat Ministries.

Global Migration Ministry Grants available

Great news! Thanks to the generosity of NIC Churches who gave a record offering for the 2018 Bishop’s Appeal related to the Global Migration Crisis last year, a portion of those funds are now available in the form of grants to churches seeking to start new activities, programs, or ministries for refugees and immigrants.

At the end of August, Bishop Sally Dyck traveled to the border of Mexico at McAllen, TX with the General Board of Church and Society to witness, and to give witness, to the plight of those who are seeking asylum and refuge in the US from Mexico and Central America.

Record giving for Bishop's Appeal

The final totals are in for this year's Bishop's Appeal special offering. Thank you to the Northern Illinois Conference congregations for donating a record $74,645 which includes some pre-conference donations. Elgin District takes home the coveted traveling trophy for the highest giving per capita!
