Churches Gave Generously at Annual Conference 2026

Northern Illinois Conference members and churches gave generously to three opportunities at Annual Conference this year, June 14-16. The Bishop’s Appeal so far has raised $30,960.52; the Missions Challenges collected about 7,000 pounds of goods, and the Ministerial Education Fund received $2,561.

Celebration of Ministry Recognizes a New Elder, Commissioned Clergy, and Local Pastors

As one of its first acts in its 187th session, the Northern Illinois Conference ordained an elder, commissioned two people for deacon's ministry and six for elder's ministry, and recognized five new local pastors. On June 14, NIC held its celebration of ministry service, which observes the entry of people into orders and roles of ministry, both lay and clergy.

Bishop’s Appeal: Education for the Central Conferences

This year, Northern Illinois United Methodists will be donating to one Bishop’s Appeal for two worthy recipients. The appeal for Education for the Central Conferences will benefit the construction of a high school in Tanzania and the Endowment Fund for Theological Education in the Central Conferences (which comprise Africa, Europe, and the Philippines). Gifts will be distributed equally to these projects.
