United Methodists and Muslims Gather to Affirm Common Humanity

United Methodists and Muslims broke bread and barriers at the Muslim-Methodist Iftar (breaking the Ramadan fast), March 3 at the Islamic Center of Wheaton. The Northern Illinois Conference and the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago offer these dinners annually to build relationships and affirm common values.

Leaders of fourteen church bodies in the Chicago area who came together on Jan. 24 for the World Day of Prayer put faith into practice by urging the federal government to stay in the Paris Agreement on climate change and pressing Illinois legislators to order the removal of lead drinking water pipes from the state.
