Churches rally against racism

Stepping outside their church buildings with signs and noisemakers, many United Methodists across the Northern Illinois Conference participated in the first-ever DIY Rally Against Racism conference-wide campaign on Sunday, July 18, and several others are planning events later this summer.

Illinois Enters Phase 5

What a year this has been. With God’s grace, we have found our way through the maze of a global pandemic, not a journey any of us claim lightly. This Friday, Illinois arrives at Phase 5. What a day of rejoicing we are in. You and your congregation have been part of this accomplishment. You have found ways to be a community to one another from a distance. Transitions to new districts beginning

NIC District Superintendents have started the transition process from six to five districts that will go into effect July 1, 2021. Each of the new five districts will have a transition team with laity and clergy and will look different in each district.

Rockford young adult commissioned as Global Fellow to help serve the homeless

Palm, a lifelong member of Christ UMC in Rockford, remembered her pastor Rev. Jane Eesley sharing stories of her personal experience in the United Methodist General Board of Global Missions (GBGM) former US-2 mission intern program serving the Palestinian-Christian community in Jerusalem. So Palm started applying for the international track through GBGM, as a Global Missions Fellow. But due to the pandemic, GBGM wasn’t sending anyone abroad.
