Conference Council on Finance and Administration – Updates from Annual Conference

Members of the Northern Illinois Annual Conference approved the 2026 conference budget and a simplified apportionment formula during their June session. The balanced budget reflects no increase from 2025, in recognition of financial challenges facing local churches, and expresses deep appreciation for congregations that faithfully support shared ministry. The new apportionment formula is tiered by church income to ensure fairness and clarity, with additional training to come this fall.

Elizabeth Stahl Named NIC Risk Manager

The Northern Illinois Conference is pleased to welcome Elizabeth Stahl as the conference's new risk manager. She begins her new role on June 2.

Being Made in the Image of God as Giver

There are many reasons and motivations for “why” people give to churches and charities. Humans are made in the image of God (Gen. 1:26), so we should do more than wonder about this identity we have, being made in God’s image as a giver. We should exercise our souls by actually giving, so that we build up our spiritual health by practicing God’s creative purposes as givers.

Cheryl Weaver Named Conference Benefits Officer for NIC and Wisconsin

Rev. Cheryl Weaver, Wisconsin Conference’s benefits officer, will also serve Northern Illinois Conference in this capacity, beginning June 1.

Elaine Moy Named NIC Treasurer & Director of Administrative Services

Elaine Moy, a member of First UMC, Evanston, joins the staff of the Northern Illinois Conference on April 15, 2024.

Property Insurance Online Billing Site Now Simplified

Starting immediately, the Northern Illinois Conference is merging the two billing sites (on Prosper) for property insurance billing, to eliminate the need for two log-ins.
