In a few weeks—February 23-26, 2019—the delegates to the General Conference of The United Methodist Church will meet in St. Louis, Missouri for a Special Session in order to discern a way forward in regards to the impasse and conflict within the church related to human sexuality.

Author speaks on Emmett Till Chicago connection

It was a time of reflecting and rejoicing at the Northern Illinois Conference’s annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. service on Jan. 20 at Faith United Methodist Church in Orland Park, Ill. The service was filled with prayers, music and honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King who would have turned 90 this year.

Conversation circle creates space for openness

A Restorative Justice (RJ) “talking circle” was held at Maple Park United Methodist Church on October 18. The 20 people who participated in the circle included community organizers, neighborhood block club leaders, Chicago Police Officers, Imago Dei Youth Mentoring Program, Maple Park UMC members and volunteers with the Chicago Alternative to Incarceration Collaborative.
