The UMC NIC Lay Leadership Portal is a tool that we use to share information between the Conference Staff and Church Leadership.

How is the Lay Leadership Portal used? 

• Church Administrators and Pastors are able to update their Leadership positions and contact information directly into the NIC Database.

• The Conference Staff is able to share Current Insurance Documents with Church Leadership.

Why is the Lay Leadership Portal important? 

• The Bishops’ office and the staff of The Northern Illinois Conference office communicate via email 95% of the time.  Without updated Leadership and their contact information, your leadership will miss out on important communication.  Please make sure that all of your leadership have an email address listed that they can access. To do this, use the "My Churches" option in the Lay Leadership Portal to update your lay leadership contact information.   
• It provides the Conference Staff with an easy way to share documents for Churches to access at their convenience while still being secure. To do this, use the "Church Documents" option in the Lay Leadership Portal to update your lay leadership contact information.   

When is the Lay Leadership Portal updated? 

• Every year after a Church’s Annual Church Conference, no later than January 31st. 
• Anytime throughout the year as changes happen. 

How is the Lay Leadership Portal accessed? 

• To access the Lay Leadership Portal, click here.  
• If you need access to the Lay Leadership Portal, email David Quinn at dquinn@umcnic.org 
• The username is the email address used for the request, the password is one that you created.
