Accessibility Awareness Day

Disabilitylogo

Several years ago, the NIC voted to establish the second Sunday of November as our annual day to remind us all to be aware of providing for the needs persons with accessibility challenges. These include those of any age with physical, psychological or developmental challenges.

This year on Sunday, November 12, the NIC Committee on Accessibility Ministries encourages each church to consider what they can do to include just one more individual so that she or he may be engaged as fully as possible in the Word of God and have the opportunity to be a part of a community of Christ.

Perhaps your church can go pick up a mobility challenged person from home and bring him or her to church. Perhaps you can make certain that your church has hearing assistance devices or a few large print bulletins available. Perhaps you can simply add a line or two to your website that invites all of these people to the table.

For additional resources and information, please visit the accessibility page or to www.umdisability.org. You may also contact the NIC Committee on Accessibility Ministries via email accesstogodshouse@gmail.com
