CA2BC is a collaboration of community groups and institutions, including both secular and faith-based organizations, working toward a more inclusive society. We seek to bring people together by creating a space where people will, through films/books and meaningful conversations, engage with each other, foster friendships, and take action to build our community.
A Time for Burning will be shown at various locations during the summer. Our feature film, My Omaha, will be shown in various locations and online in the fall.
A Time For Burning Information My Omaha Information
A Time for Burning and My Omaha were chosen to work together as the featured films for our 2026 discussion series because, though separated by more than 50 years, they explore many of the same questions about race, faith, community, and the search for understanding. Both films are rooted in Omaha, Nebraska, and together they reveal how conversations about racism and reconciliation continue across generations.
A Time for Burning captures a white Lutheran congregation during the Civil Rights Movement as members wrestle with efforts to build relationships with Black Lutherans in their city. My Omaha revisits Omaha in the present day, following filmmaker Nick Beaulieu as he explores political division, racial injustice, and his relationship with his conservative father while connecting with activists and leaders in North Omaha.
Together, these films offer a rare opportunity to reflect on both continuity and change — to consider what has shifted in conversations about race and what remains unresolved. Watching these films side by side invites more than comparison; it invites conversation. Each film challenges viewers to examine not only society, but their assumptions, relationships, fears, and hopes. The discussions that follow are an essential part of this series, creating space for honest dialogue, deeper listening, and shared reflection about the ongoing search for justice, understanding, and common ground.
