Pentecost Gathering in Freeport Area Raises Hope
Hope was alive on May 31 as an intergenerational group of over 300 from 16 Freeport-area churches gathered at the Oakdale Tabernacle to celebrate Pentecost.
We have been made aware that an email is going around that looks like it's from Bishop Sally Dyck asking for a favor to run an errand for her and asking for a response.
This is a phishing email and we have reported it. We encourage churches and clergy to ignore any conference email that is not from a "@umcnic.org" address regardless of the sender name.
When receiving an email, if you click the sender name, you can see the actual address it is from. The conference will never send official email from an @gmail.com or other domain. Read more from the Federal Trade Commission on how to recognize and avoid phishing scams.
