In Acts 2:1–21, the disciples were gathered when a sound like a rushing wind filled the house, and tongues of fire rested on each of them. They are filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages. Soon a crowd gathered—people from many regions and cultures—each hearing the good news of God in their own language. This is the story we remember on Pentecost Sunday. The coming of the Holy Spirit marks the beginning of the church’s shared mission. The story of Pentecost reminds us that God’s Spirit moves among people of many cultures, languages, and traditions. Find resources here.
