David Worthington is an engaging and approachable speaker. Director of John Wesley’s New Room in Bristol, UK, from 2006 to 2025, he led tours and special events at the New Room and Charles Wesley’s home in the same city. The United Methodist General Commission on Archives and History named him their Global Ambassador of Methodist Heritage Sites in 2025. His role is to preserve and promote the work of Methodist Heritage Landmarks and Historic Sites in both the UK and the US, through public speaking, tour hosting, mission engagement, research and fundraising. He is very knowledgeable about Methodist history. “I believe that ‘preserving our history is an act of shaping our future,’” he says, “and that we should use our heritage as a means of outreach and mission to engage with people today.”
