Elgin District Lay Servant Academy

All laity are welcome! Courses offered will help you grow in your role as a lay person,  developing and nurturing your spiritual gifts for the ministry of the church.

Participants can choose one of the following courses:

  • "Introduction to Lay Ministry: The BASIC Course" (English and Spanish
  • "Living our United Methodist Beliefs" 
  • "Embracing Personal Prayer"
  • "Planning Worship"
  • "Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts"
  • "Afire with God" 


Academy fee: $40 through Feb. 29 / $45 after Feb. 29. Mail-in registrations accepted only through March 6. Online registration ends March 10 at midnight. Selected course books will be mailed to participant address if registering before March 6. Participants are strongly encouraged to read all materials before arriving at the Academy.

After March 6, course books can be picked up at Lay Academy. Courses with less than 5 enrolled by March 6 will be canceled.
