Saturday, June 27, 9 am to 12 noon
On Saturday, June 27 from 9 am to noon, a truck filled with boxed potatoes and onions will be parked at the New Lenox United Methodist Church parking lot at 339 W. Haven Ave in New Lenox. These potatoes and onions are from the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program coordinated through the Society of St. Andrew.
Each box weighs 15 pounds and contains 10 pounds of potatoes and 5 pounds of onions. There are 1,200 boxes in a truckload. Each truckload has 22 skids. Each skid has 50 boxes.
This special drive-through event at the New Lenox church is open to all Aurora District churches and the pantries that they support. The food is free and the transportation cost to the church is zero.
This is an incredible opportunity on that day to provide food for people in your church, especially because these vegetables are pre-boxed and easy to handle. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to come and get a box or several boxes that they can deliver to their neighbors.
