Mrs. Gwen Janet Oliver, spouse of Rev. Richard E. Oliver, retired member of the Northern Illinois Conference, passed away on Fri., Oct. 2, 2026.

Rev. Oliver faithfully served the Northern Illinois Conference at the following appointments: Elgin: Faith; Wood Dale: Community; Elgin: Wesley; and Buffalo Grove: Kingswood.

Mrs. Oliver was 88 years of age.

Two celebration-of-life services will be held.

• The first service will be at First Presbyterian Church of Taos, in Taos, New Mexico, on Fri., Oct. 9, at 11 a.m.
• The second service will be held at Journey of Hope UMC in Elgin, Illinois, on Sat., Nov. 28, at 1 p.m.
