Class Options: (one course per academy)

  • Basic Course
    Foundational to all Lay Servant Ministries courses, the Basic course encourages participants to discover their own journey and build strong spiritual practices; it is required before completing certification in Lay Servant Ministries.

  • Living Our United Methodist Beliefs (Heritage
    This course explores how we got where we are today beginning with John and Charles Wesley through the circuit riders; it continues the journey of social holiness taught by John Wesley. 
    Instructor:  Peggy Hansen
  • Called to Preach
    This course is a “how to” guide of the resources, preparation process and practice of preaching for those called upon to preach in a pastor’s absence or without formal training.  
    Instructor:  Rev. Becky Nicol
  • Dancing with Words
    This course will help participants learn what constitutes a good story, discover storytelling styles and practice creating stories in class.
