This event commemorates Korea’s liberation from Japanese occupation in 1945 and offers a powerful opportunity to celebrate freedom, honor our shared history, and uplift Korean-American identity and contributions.
August 15th this year is the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from colonialism. This date also marked the end of the military actions of World War II and led to independence in many countries in Asia. Peace is still needed in many parts of our world, however.
This event has been generously sponsored by the Korean Association of the Northern Illinois Conference, the Connectional Table of the Northern Illinois Conference, the Asian American Fellowship of the Northern Illinois Conference, the Association of the Korean UMCs in Chicago, and the Association of the Korean United Methodist Church.
