Speaker: Dr. Ashley Dreff, author of “Entangled: a History of American Methodism, Politics, and Sexuality”

Dr. Ashley Dreff will present four lectures on her recent book "Entangled" (2018).  Bishop Sally Dyck is the respondent.

Cost is $150 ($100 for students), which includes Sunday evening dinner and Monday lunch. Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations. One CEU credit is available.

Initiated in 1974, the John Wesley Theological Institute is an annual learning event for laity and clergy to engage scholars and practitioners in understanding and relating Wesleyan theology to our contemporary context.

Dr. Dreff will start with John Wesley and 18th c. British sexuality, then on to Wesley's theology and how American Methodists understand Wesley's theology, then American concepts of sexuality and the Methodist responses to them.  Dr. Dreff is Director of Women's and Gender Studies and Assistant Professor of Religion at High Point University in North Carolina.
