Welcome to the Chicago Southern District!
I greet you on behalf of the 54 local churches, two campus ministries and the many other exciting ministries that exist on the District! The district is made up of a diverse people representing both urban and suburban communities. It is framed by Interstate 290, some parts of Interstate 294, Lake Michigan and just beyond Interstate 80.
Each of our faith communities are involved in a variety of missions and outreach ministries. Both the clergy and laity are working faithfully to carry out the Great Commission of Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World. (Matthew 28:16-20)
If you are seeking a place to worship, to grow in your faith, to engage in mission and outreach and to build lasting relationships, then you are invited to join a United Methodist congregation nearest you. Within these local faith communities, you will find a warm, welcoming people who are filled with the love of Christ!

Meet the Superintendent
Jacques A. Conway is an ordained Elder and has served in both associate and senior pastor positions in the Northern Illinois Conference. He was raised on Chicago’s South Side, a member of Rush Memorial United Methodist and, while in college, serving as its Youth Leader and Lay Speaker. He is the first African-American to retire from the Oak Park Police Department, Oak Park, Illinois, as the Senior Sergeant of Patrol, after twenty four years of service.
Bishop Dyck celebrates Rev. Conway’s experience in ministry and his rich and varied experience. “Rev. Conway brings a passion for justice and mercy through his experiences with people who are in need. He has worked with a diversity of people that will serve him well in the Chicago Southern District,” said Bishop Dyck.
Despite his many accomplishments, if you asked Pastor Conway who he is, he would simply reply, “…to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with my God.”
