DISTRICT LAY ACADEMY
Leading: Are you a teacher, committee member or officer in your church?
Communicating:  Do you share God's Good News and the Love of Jesus with others?
Caring:  Do you believe in caring for others, praying for others?
If so, we invite you to come to Lay Academy and take one of our courses.
Lay Academy will be held on two Saturdays, March 6 and 13, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 418 Touhy Avenue, Park Ridge.  The courses being offered are -Basic English taught by Ellen Feliciano, certified lay speaker; Basic Spanish taught by  Elizabeth Laredo-Rivera, certified lay speaker; Basic Youth, taught by Rev. James Preston, District Superintendent and Rev. Carol Hill, District Youth Coordinator; Basic Children taught by Catherine Peterson, certified lay speaker and Kelley T. Van, Christian Education Coordinator, First Vietnamese UMC
The Advance Courses are - Praying in the Wesleyan Way taught by Rev. Cecelia S. Harris, Pastor, St. Matthew UMC; United Methodist Heritage taught by Rev. Harriette Cross, Pastor of Cornerstone UMC; Wesleyan Leadership and the Book of Discipline (bring your Discipline) TBA; Leading Bible Study taught by Rev. Santiago Espada, Pastor Emanuel UMC (in Spanish), bring your Bible and Lay Speakers Grow Spiritually taught by Lillie Childs, certified lay speaker.  The cost - $30.00 for adults, $10.00 for youth and $5.00 for children.
